Wow! This begins my 28th year in education. I cannot believe how quickly time flies. I graduated with a bachelor of science in elementary education from Auburn University in Montgomery in 1990. I later received a master's degree in elementary education in 1994. I have taught fourth, second, and first grades. I am married to David Courson who is a physician assistant at St. Francis Hospital. We have two daughters, Caroline (20 years old) and Catherine (17 years old) and one son, Caleb (8 years old). Caleb was adopted from South Korea and came to live with his forever family on February 28, 2011! Our entire family is so excited to become part of his family.
I have taught in Phenix City for 25 years and 2 years in North Carolina. I love teaching at Lakewood Primary School! I am truly blessed to work at a wonderful school with fabulous people who love children!
I love teaching. I feel that God has called me to teach young children and cannot imagine another job that would be more challenging and enjoyable! While I believe that all children can learn, I understand that children are individuals with various needs and learning styles. Educating your child is a partnership between teacher and parent.
